Microneedling

Microneedling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles and stretch marks. The procedure involves using a specialised device to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin, which enables the skin to naturally produce new collagen and elastin. Following this process, specialised light therapy is used on the treated area to encourage new collagen production. Microneedling also creates superficial micro-channels which can help the likes of topical gels, creams and serums to penetrate deeper and work better in the skin. It also improves the appearance of the top layer of the skin as the skin's repair process occurs.

This aesthetic treatment is fantastic for:

  • Improving skin texture

  • Improving uneven skin tone and discolouration

  • Reducing pore size

  • Improving the appearance of acne scarring

  • Tightening the skin

  • Firming the skin

  • Slowing down the aging process

  • Scars including Chicken Pox

  • Stretch Marks (anywhere on the body)

The frequency of micro needling treatments vary with the intensity of the treatment. Mild treatments may be repeated every 3 to 4 weeks. Deep treatments for scars may be repeated every 4 to 6 weeks.

Approximately 48 to 72 hours after the treatment you will have an increase in collagen production. It takes at least four weeks to see noticeable results though. The new collagen will last for several years, which is why micro needling treatment is considered a very long lasting treatment.
