Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair. This does not cause the hair to grow back thicker and darker.

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.

This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the bloodstream and potentially harming your baby.

How is the treatment carried out?

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure and can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face.

Firstly, your skin will be cleansed and thoroughly dried. Following this prep, each area being worked on will be pulled taut with one hand, and the other hand uses a a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle using short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz (vellus hair). A rejuvenating and rebalancing dual-function mask, Collagen infused with Green Tea will help rebalance the skin's pH level and hydrate any dry areas. A revitalising specialised toner is used finished off with a professional SPF application, which you will also receive a sample of to take home for aftercare. You may also wish to add a Chemical Peel to your treatment for an additional £10; this is amazing on the skin and really penetrates well through to the deeper skin cells after Dermaplaning. You may also decide to have the Dermaplaning and Microneedling treatment together, for a deeper treatment that will benefit your face in so many ways; you will see a glow in your skin health, fine lines and wrinkles will be minimised, discolouration is improved, acne can be treated as well as facial scars.  If you are concerned with stretch marks, scarring and would like to improve the appearance of your fine lines and wrinkles, Microneedling will best treat these needs.
